Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has achieved its highest-ever production value and profit in the fiscal year 2024–25, turning net worth positive for the first time in four decades. Cmde Girideep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of HSL, made the announcement at the SwaRaksha Mahotsav 2025 held at Hotel Radisson Blu, an event celebrating India’s defence production, innovation, and industry collaboration.

Cmde Singh highlighted HSL’s legacy of over eight decades, noting that the shipyard has delivered more than 200 ships and repaired over 2,000 vessels for the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and commercial clients. He added that HSL’s current order book stands at nearly ₹20,000 crore, reflecting renewed confidence from customers, government bodies, vendors, and employees.

The Chairman also outlined HSL’s role in strengthening India’s defence capabilities. He cited the Fleet Support Ship programme and upcoming advanced submarine refits as examples of the shipyard’s strategic contributions to domestic defence production and technological sovereignty.

Cmde Singh emphasized opportunities for MSMEs and industry partners, pointing to collaborations and reforms that enable thousands of vendors and start-ups to grow alongside HSL. Looking ahead, he shared a vision for the shipyard to become a center for both naval and commercial shipbuilding, with a focus on green technologies.
