YSRCP MP Midhun Reddy Alleges ‘Terrorist-Like’ Treatment During Jail Stay

Rajampet MP and YSR Congress Party floor leader Peddireddy Midhun Reddy, recently released on bail in the Rs 3,200-crore liquor scam case, alleged on Wednesday that he was treated like a terrorist during his detention.

Speaking to the media in Rajampet, Midhun Reddy said he remained unfazed by what he called a “false case” filed against him by the TDP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh. “These attempts to intimidate opposition leaders are foolish and will not succeed,” he asserted.

The MP, who was arrested on July 19 and released from Rajahmundry Jail on Tuesday after the ACB court in Vijayawada granted him bail, accused the Telugu Desam Party of regularly using diversionary tactics. “Whenever the TDP comes to power, it files fabricated cases against YSRCP leaders to divert attention from its failures,” he said.

Midhun Reddy alleged that similar false cases were filed against him even during the TDP’s 2014-19 rule. He claimed that during his recent detention, he was kept in isolation, denied basic facilities, and placed under 24-hour CCTV surveillance, with restricted communication under heavy political pressure.

The MP accused the coalition government of deliberately using such cases to deflect attention from administrative lapses. “Whenever public dissatisfaction rises, they raise unrelated issues and file cases to shift focus,” he said.

Expressing gratitude to YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and party workers, Midhun Reddy said that although such cases might cause pain to his family, they would not weaken his resolve. “I am prepared to face every challenge legally and strengthen my connection with the people. These conspiracies will not succeed. False cases may bring temporary satisfaction to TDP leaders but will not yield political results,” he added.
