AMTZ incubates over 100 MedTech startups in Visakhapatnam

The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam has incubated more than 100 medical technology startups, reinforcing its role as a key centre for healthcare innovation in the country.

According to AMTZ, the startups are developing products and solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence-based diagnostics, medical devices, biotechnology, rehabilitation technologies and digital health. The organisation said its integrated ecosystem provides startups with the infrastructure, technical expertise and industry support required to translate ideas into commercially viable products.

The startups have been supported through specialised facilities, including the Medivalley Incubation Council, Bio Valley Incubation Council, Bharat Limb Centre (BLC) and the Centre of Excellence for Additive Manufacturing. These centres offer prototyping and manufacturing facilities, testing laboratories, regulatory guidance and clinical collaborations to accelerate product development while meeting regulatory and clinical validation requirements.

AMTZ has also been promoting innovation through initiatives such as the MedTech Hackathon, the World Health Innovation Forum (WHIF) and the Innovation Passport (iPassport) programme. These initiatives aim to connect startups with clinicians, investors and policymakers, while providing mentorship and support for market access.

Speaking on the milestone, AMTZ Managing Director and Founder CEO Jitendra Sharma said the organisation remained committed to ensuring that healthcare innovations reached patients.
