JSW to set up Mega Industrial Park in Vizianagaram with Rs 531 crore investment
The state government has approved a new Private Mega Industrial Park by JSW Industrial Park Ltd (previously JSW Aluminium Ltd) in the Vizianagaram district. This project will significantly boost industrial growth in North Andhra. It requires an investment of ₹531.36 crore and aims to create around 45,000 jobs.
On Tuesday, the Industries and Commerce Department allowed JSW to switch from an aluminum refinery project to a multi-sector MSME and industrial park. The park will cover 1,166.43 acres, with 985.7 acres already allocated. It will be located in the villages of Musidipalli, Cheedipalem, Chinakhandeapalli, MB Vara, and Kiltampalem in Shrungavarapukota Mandal.
The government has also approved the company’s name change and extended incentives under the Industrial Development Policy (IDP) for 2023–2027.
Under the AP Private Parks Policy (4.0) for 2024–2029, JSW requested several benefits. These include road and water connectivity, two 25 MW substations, royalty exemptions, and water at ₹25 per kiloliter for 25 years. They also seek a 50% reimbursement of capital expenditures for the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). The plan includes subsidies for green energy and rainwater harvesting systems.
The State Investment Promotion Committee (SIPC) reviewed the proposals on October 7, and the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) approved them on October 8. The government granted a capital subsidy of ₹3 lakh per acre and provided full exemptions on land conversion and related fees. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) will oversee infrastructure and water supply. The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will provide interim water, and the Revenue Department will clear 273.74 acres for allotment.
Residents have welcomed this development. Ravi Kumar, a farmer from Musidipalli, expressed hope: “We are optimistic that the industrial park will create jobs for our youth and improve local infrastructure. It could change the future of our villages.” Another resident, Sravya, mentioned, “With industries coming in, small businesses in the area will also benefit. However, we hope the environment and water resources are protected.”
Officials believe the project will enhance industrialization in North Andhra. It will attract both MSMEs and large industries to Vizianagaram and strengthen the region’s economic growth.
