India a key destination for global investment, Vice President says
India offers major opportunities for international investors, driven by economic reforms and a growing startup ecosystem, said Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan.
Speaking at the 30th CII Partnership Summit, themed “Technology, Trust, and Trade – Navigating the New Geoeconomic Order,” he highlighted reforms improving ease of doing business. Ongoing changes in labour, taxation, and infrastructure have positioned India among the world’s leading business destinations.
Mr. Radhakrishnan described India as a knowledge-driven economy. He noted the startup ecosystem is the world’s third largest. He added that India is on track to become the third-largest economy globally. The country also has strong potential to become a hub for clean technology exports.
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said India’s growth will benefit the world through technology, trust, and trade. Exports exceeded USD 825 billion last year, while foreign direct investment continues to rise. Free trade agreements with the UK and EFTA may bring USD 100 billion in FDI and create one million jobs.
Andhra Pradesh Governor Syed Abdul Nazeer highlighted the state’s Make-in-India initiatives. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu invited investors to explore sectors from AI and deep technologies to agriculture and tourism. He emphasized real-time clearances and investor-friendly policies.
The state is advancing major projects including Space City, Drone City, Electronics City, robotics clusters, defence corridors, and Quantum Valley. Andhra Pradesh contributes 160 GW toward India’s 500 GW renewable energy target.
Industry leaders praised the state’s infrastructure, governance, and strategic location, calling it a gateway for global investment.
CII leaders highlighted India’s growth in semiconductors, AI, defence, and energy transition. The summit, hosted by the Andhra Pradesh government, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and CII, features seven thematic tracks and over 2,500 delegates from 45 countries.
