IIPE’s Modern Campus in Vangali Set to Open January 5

The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) will soon move to its permanent campus in Vangali village, Sabbavaram mandal, Anakapalle district. The relocation marks a major milestone for the institute.

The 157-acre campus, provided by the State Government, is nearly complete. Workers are putting the final touches in place before the shift from AU Engineering College, where IIPE has operated since 2016. Classes are expected to start on January 5.

The campus costs around Rs 400 crore to build. The institute spent an additional Rs 100 crore on a modern laboratory and library. Another Rs 50 crore went into furniture and essential infrastructure. “The first phase is complete. The second phase, approved by the Central Government, will receive Rs 150 crore for future expansion,” an institute official said.

IIPE offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, M.Sc. Applied Geology, and PhD courses. The new campus will enhance the learning environment and provide world-class facilities for students and faculty.

Designed for sustainability, the campus earned a four-star rating under the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). It features solar panels, water recycling systems, energy-efficient lighting, and improved ventilation in classrooms and halls.

“Students will have a four-week break after semester exams to help with the move,” the official added. The campus is expected to strengthen academic programs and establish IIPE as a hub for research and innovation in the energy sector.
