Collector reviews preparations for IFR-2026 in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam is preparing for the International Fleet Review (IFR)-2026 and the Milan Village program. District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad instructed all departments to coordinate closely to ensure smooth operations for the events and the President’s visit.

During a review meeting, he emphasized the need for careful planning for the events scheduled from February 17 to 20, particularly regarding security and protocol. The Collector directed improvements to event infrastructure, which include reliable power backup, medical services, fire safety, and functional communication systems at key locations.

He also emphasized the importance of crowd management and the improvement of public amenities, including transportation, drinking water, organized queues, and rest areas. Additionally, he called for systematic planning of cultural performances and reviewed arrangements for the marching contingent.

With the events being coastal, he stressed the need for monitoring sea activities and tracking private boats during the program. Agencies were urged to expedite beautification efforts along roads and to complete any pending civil works, particularly road improvements related to the visit to Sankalp Village.

Navy Commodores Ami Mathew and Rajaneesh Sharma confirmed that 73 dignitaries are expected, with ships from 22 countries participating. Milan Village will occur from February 15 to 20, the International Fleet Review is on February 18, and the inauguration and International City Parade are scheduled for February 19.
