City Police Recover Stolen Property Worth Rs 1.07 Crore

The Visakhapatnam City Police detected 44 property offence cases in December 2025. Police arrested 42 persons and recovered stolen property worth over Rs 1.07 crore, Commissioner of Police Sankabratha Bagchi said on Saturday.

A total of 77 property offence cases were reported during the month. Police formed special teams to investigate the cases. The teams used technical analysis and field inquiries.

“Special teams analysed the cases from all angles using technical tools and ground intelligence. Their coordinated efforts led to the detection of 44 cases and the arrest of 42 offenders,” Mr. Bagchi said.

Police recovered property worth ₹56.77 lakh in the detected cases. They also traced and returned 336 missing mobile phones valued at ₹50.40 lakh. The total value of recovered property stood at ₹1,07,17,800.

The detected cases include one robbery. Police also detected three daytime house break-ins and two nighttime house break-ins. Other cases include one snatching, one bus theft, 15 motorcycle thefts, one auto theft, three wire thefts, and 17 ordinary thefts.

“Continuous surveillance, round-the-clock monitoring, and careful investigation helped us achieve these results,” Mr. Bagchi said.

As part of preventive measures, police facilitated the installation of 168 CCTV cameras at key locations in December. Crime wing officers conducted 178 awareness meetings. They educated the public about crime trends and safety precautions.

Police intensified patrolling in crime-prone areas during the day and night. Drone surveillance continued in isolated places to monitor suspicious and illegal activities.

Police used digital tracking systems to recover mobile phones. These include the CEIR portal and a chatbot service. During December, police recovered 336 mobile phones worth ₹50.4 lakh. So far, 8,875 mobile phones valued at ₹13.31 crore have been traced and returned.

“We urge citizens to use the CEIR portal to report lost or stolen mobile phones,” Mr. Bagchi said.
