Green India Conference highlights AP’s renewable energy push
Andhra Pradesh is steadily progressing towards its goal of becoming India’s “green energy capital”, Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board Chairman Dr. P. Krishnaiah said on Friday.
He was addressing the Green India Conference 2026 held at the SS Convention Centre as part of the Green Energy India Expo. He said the state has a well-defined policy roadmap to support large-scale expansion of renewable energy capacity.
The conference was jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) and Exhibition Catalyst Pvt. Ltd. It brought together policymakers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, academicians and students to explore investment opportunities in the sector.
Dr. Krishnaiah said Andhra Pradesh aims to achieve 160 GW of renewable energy capacity over the next decade. He noted significant opportunities for MSMEs in areas such as manufacturing, energy storage systems, cell fabrication, module assembly and project services. He also emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between industry and educational institutions to develop a skilled workforce and create awareness among students about emerging opportunities in the green energy sector.
AP Chambers President Potluri Bhaskara Rao said the state has already secured more than ₹5 lakh crore in renewable energy investments, with an additional ₹5 lakh crore in the pipeline. He called for the establishment of dedicated solar component manufacturing parks across Andhra Pradesh and urged faster resolution of policy and operational challenges to achieve the 160 GW target. He also referred to the proposed renewable energy manufacturing hub at Rambilli near Visakhapatnam.
AP Chambers Executive Vice-President B. Rajasekhar said efforts are underway to strengthen industrial capacity and accelerate renewable energy growth in the state, adding that sustained momentum is essential to meet long-term objectives.
Technical sessions were moderated by Energy Committee Vice-Chairman B. Phani Chandra and Chairman P. Koti Rao. Discussions focused on investment trends, policy frameworks, financing, grid infrastructure, manufacturing prospects, emerging technologies and job creation.
The three-day expo, which features around 50 exhibitors showcasing renewable energy and sustainability solutions, will conclude on June 13.
