ACB Raids Ex-Home Guard, Rs 20 Crore Assets Unearthed

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday conducted searches at the residence of a former ACB Home Guard and allegedly uncovered assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, estimated at around Rs 20 crore.

The accused, Netti Srinivasa Rao, a native of Gurla mandal in Vizianagaram district, served as a Home Guard in the ACB for nearly 15 years and is currently attached to the district police department. Officials said that despite holding a low-ranking post, he is suspected of amassing substantial wealth through illegal means.

In a development that has drawn attention in official circles, Srinivasa Rao, who earlier assisted in ACB operations against corrupt officials, is now under investigation for allegedly aiding the same network. According to ACB sources, he misused his experience and contacts to pass on advance information about raids and inquiries to government employees allegedly involved in corruption, in return for large sums of money.

He is also accused of sharing sensitive information with sub-registrars in the district and collecting regular payments from them. Following earlier complaints, he was transferred from ACB duties to the district police department about two years ago.

Acting on fresh allegations of disproportionate assets, ACB teams led by DSP Ramya carried out simultaneous searches early in the morning at his apartment in Gokapeta in Vizianagaram town and at his native place in Gurla mandal.

Officials reportedly seized several property documents, including more than ten Jagananna house site pattas, along with papers linked to other immovable assets. Preliminary inquiries indicate that he owns properties in both Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.

The searches are continuing. ACB officials said further action, including taking the accused into custody and producing him before a court for remand, will follow based on the outcome of the investigation.
