YSRCP files complaint over ‘provocative’ flex banners
Tension flared in the city after flex banners targeting YSRCP leaders surfaced in the IV Town police station limits. As a result, the party approached the police and blamed the TDP for putting them up.
YSRCP district president K.K. Raju led a group of leaders to lodge the complaint. They said the banners carried false claims that animal fat was used in preparing Tirumala laddu prasadam. Therefore, they termed the content misleading and inflammatory.
The leaders further alleged that NDA representatives were trying to divert public attention. According to them, these tactics aimed to overshadow the SIT charge sheet on the laddu issue and the alleged GITAM land irregularities.
Later, speaking to the media outside the police station, the leaders demanded immediate removal of the banners. They also said unknown persons installed them late at night to trigger religious tension. Hence, they urged the police to identify and act against those responsible.
Mr. Raju said the SIT charge sheet clearly stated that ghee used for Tirumala laddu contained no animal fat or fish oil. However, he alleged that NDA leaders targeted people who voiced this position after the report came out.
Meanwhile, former MLA A. Adeepraj filed a separate complaint at Pendurthi police station. He accused NDA leaders of provoking communal tension and disturbing public order. Moreover, he alleged that TDP leaders encouraged cadre to turn violent when questioned.
Police later removed the flex banners from the area.
