AMC alumni donate six ventilators to strengthen KGH PICU

Alumni of the 1966 batch of Andhra Medical College (AMC), along with the Andhra Medical College Alumni of North America (AMCANA), donated six advanced Maquet ventilators to the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at King George Hospital (KGH) on Wednesday.

The donation, valued at approximately Rs 48 lakh, was handed over by alumni members Nagula Sitaramaiah and G. Guruprasad in the presence of hospital officials and faculty members.

Speaking on the occasion, the donors said the state-of-the-art ventilators are equipped with specialized humidifier systems that deliver precise, gentle respiratory support for critically ill infants and children. They noted that adding modern life-support equipment would enhance the PICU’s ability to manage complex cases, particularly severe respiratory infections and neonatal complications.

Hospital authorities expressed gratitude to the alumni for their continued support, stating that the equipment would help improve patient care, reduce referrals, and strengthen emergency response for paediatric cases. The gesture reflects the long-standing commitment of AMC alumni, both in India and abroad, to upgrading healthcare infrastructure at their alma mater and its teaching hospital.
