Skill Development Key to Career Readiness, Says VPA Deputy Chairperson
Roshni Aparanji Korati, Deputy Chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), emphasized the importance of skill development in building students’ confidence and career readiness.
She spoke at the inauguration of CSR-supported training programs organized by the Center of Excellence in Maritime & Shipbuilding (CEMS) at Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College on Friday. Recalling her time at the institution as a former student, Ms. Korati highlighted expanding global opportunities in the logistics and maritime sectors. She urged students to stay updated on emerging technologies, particularly developments driven by artificial intelligence.
The event marked the launch of logistics courses sponsored by VPA and Vizag General Cargo Berth Pvt. Ltd. (VGCB). It also featured the valedictory ceremony for the Product Design Engineer Skill Training Programme, sponsored by South Asia LPG Company Pvt. Ltd. (SA LPG) under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
Organisers said that 80 undergraduate students from BA, B.Com, BBA, and B.Sc streams have enrolled in the two-month programmes. The courses are aligned with industry requirements and include placement assistance upon successful completion.
Ms. Korati distributed course completion certificates and handed over placement offer letters to selected trainees. She encouraged students to pursue their goals with dedication and consistency, while underscoring the importance of resilience, particularly among women balancing professional and personal responsibilities.
Dr. G. Madhu Kumar, Secretary and Correspondent of Dr. L.B. Colleges, spoke on the growing relevance of logistics across sectors and outlined VPA’s initiatives to strengthen the regional logistics ecosystem. Richa Shinde, CEO of SA LPG, and Gopal Mandelia, CEO and Whole-Time Director of VGCB, also addressed the gathering.
The programme included trainee presentations and the recognition of outstanding performers. CEMS representatives said the initiative reflects their continued focus on enhancing the employability of local youth through industry-oriented training supported by CSR partnerships.
