Foundation for Google data centre soon: Ganta
Ganta Srinivasa Rao, MLA of Bheemili, has said that the foundation stone for the proposed Google data centre at Tarluvada in Anandapuram mandal will be laid in the first week of next month.
Addressing the silver jubilee celebrations of Chaitanya Engineering College at Kommadi on Saturday, where he attended as the chief guest, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the proposed facility would serve as the headquarters for Google’s data centre operations outside the United States. He noted that the project would significantly strengthen the technology ecosystem in the region.
He said Visakhapatnam was poised to emerge as a major information technology hub under the leadership of IT Minister Nara Lokesh. Referring to the recent investors’ summit, he said initiatives had been taken to bring as many as 15 international IT companies to the city.
Efforts were being made to attract reputed technology firms to Visakhapatnam so that engineering graduates would not have to travel to distant cities in search of employment, he said. The establishment of global companies in the city would create significant employment opportunities for local youth, he added.
Recalling his long association with educationist Chaitanya Raju, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said Mr. Raju, who adopted the name of his educational institutions as his surname, had served as the party’s election observer when he contested the Anakapalli Lok Sabha seat in 1999.
He advised students to set clear goals for their future and work with dedication to achieve them. He also urged them to utilise opportunities emerging in the growing technology sector in Visakhapatnam.
S. N. Raju, MLA of Chodavaram, corporator Lodagala Apparao, and several coalition leaders were present on the occasion.
