VMRDA Launches VISTA, TAPPALS Apps to Boost Digital Services

Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) chairman M.V. Pranav Gopal and Metropolitan Commissioner N. Tej Bharat on Thursday launched two mobile applications — VISTA and TAPPALS — marking a significant step towards digital transformation in public service delivery and internal administration.

Speaking at a programme held at the VMRDA office here, Pranav Gopal said that with Visakhapatnam rapidly evolving into a major tourism hub, the authority is focusing on strengthening digital infrastructure to offer improved services to visitors. He noted that the introduction of smart applications would not only enhance visitor convenience but also streamline operations across various VMRDA-managed facilities.

Elaborating on the VISTA (VMRDA Integrated Smart Ticketing App), the chairman said the application is designed to eliminate the need for long queues at popular parks, museums, and tourist destinations maintained by VMRDA. “Visitors can now purchase entry tickets directly through their smartphones, which will ensure seamless access and save time, especially during peak tourist seasons,” he said.

In addition to ticketing, the VISTA app also enables users to book VMRDA-owned venues and function halls online, reducing the need for physical visits and manual processing. Officials stated that the system would bring greater transparency in tracking visitor footfall and revenue collection, minimising discrepancies and improving overall management. Plans are also underway to promote the application among domestic as well as international tourists visiting the city.

Meanwhile, Metropolitan Commissioner Tej Bharat introduced the TAPPALS app, aimed at modernising internal administrative processes within VMRDA. He explained that the application would digitise the handling and movement of official files and correspondence, replacing conventional paper-based systems.

“The TAPPALS app will significantly improve accountability, reduce delays in file processing, and enhance efficiency among staff members,” Bharat said. He added that the move is part of a broader initiative to adopt e-governance practices and ensure faster decision-making within the organisation.

Senior officials of VMRDA were present at the launch event. They emphasised that both applications reflect the authority’s commitment to leveraging technology for better governance and citizen-centric services.

Officials urged the public to make full use of these digital platforms, stating that such initiatives would contribute to a more convenient, transparent, and efficient experience for both visitors and stakeholders.
