Naidu, Pawan welcome Amaravati Bill passage in Parliament
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday termed the unanimous passage of the A.P. Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, in both Houses of Parliament as a historic and defining moment for the State, stating that it reflected the collective will and aspirations of its people.
In a post on X, Mr. Naidu said the people’s voice had found a strong expression at the national level. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering support and commitment, noting that he had stood firmly by Amaravati at every crucial stage, from laying its foundation stone on October 22, 2015, to reviving its progress and reaffirming its vision on May 2, 2025.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Government of India for their key role in steering the Amaravati Bill forward. He further thanked all political parties and Members of Parliament for supporting the legislation beyond differences.
He said the passage of the Bill would bring long-awaited stability to Andhra Pradesh and usher in a new era of empowerment, confidence, and progress for its citizens.
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan said the approval of the Bill in Parliament had delivered justice to the people and firmly established Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of the State. He described it as a victory for every citizen who stood by the NDA government.
Paying tributes to Potti Sriramulu, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said his sacrifice laid the foundation for the State’s identity and the formation of linguistic States.
“The soul of Amaravati lies in the sacrifice of its farmers. Over 33,000 acres were contributed not out of compulsion, but out of trust in a shared vision and future. That trust has been honoured today,” he said, while thanking the Chief Minister for his vision and persistent efforts towards Amaravati’s development.
