Amaravati quantum push signals deep-tech pivot, says CM Naidu
Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a hub for emerging technologies, with a strong focus on quantum computing and allied deep-tech sectors, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Tuesday.
After virtually inaugurating the Amaravati Quantum Reference Facilities at SRM University, Neerukonda, and Medha Towers in Gannavaram, the Chief Minister said the State has already established a proof of concept through two open-access quantum computing facilities and will now expand its technology ecosystem.
“We created the open-access quantum testing facilities in record time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended strong support through the National Quantum Mission. Going forward, our focus will be on leveraging quantum deep-tech, along with drones, space technology, and green hydrogen,” he said during an interaction with national media representatives.
Naidu said the government is simultaneously developing multiple industrial and research corridors across the State to support advanced manufacturing and innovation. He noted that dedicated ecosystems are being created for drones, space technology, and clean energy.
“We are setting up a drone city for both civilian and defence applications. A space city is also under development, with two firms involved. We are also promoting green hydrogen to reduce dependence on fossil fuels,” he said, adding that industrial hubs for electronics, medical equipment, solar components, and semiconductor manufacturing are at various stages of execution.
Recalling the transformation of Hyderabad’s IT landscape in earlier decades, Naidu said long-term vision and policy direction can reshape economies.
He also said a $15-billion Google data centre, expected to be launched by the end of the month, will be a game changer for Visakhapatnam.
