Tarluvada Set for Global Leap with Google AI Data Centre

Google AI Data Centre to Transform Tarluvada Near Visakhapatnam

Tarluvada, once a quiet farming village on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam, is preparing for a dramatic transformation as Google develops its first 1-gigawatt artificial intelligence data centre outside the United States.

The ₹1 lakh crore project, spread across 260 acres, has brought heavy machinery, land-levelling works, and new expectations to the village of around 3,000 residents. A foundation stone ceremony is scheduled for April 28, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expected to launch the project formally.

Workers are preparing the venue, public meeting stage, and helipad, while villagers watch the landscape change day by day.

“At first, we did not know whether it was an office or some IT company. Later, our youth explained that it is a data centre and that it may create indirect jobs,” said resident T. Bangar Raju.

Located about 40 km from Visakhapatnam city, Tarluvada still retains its rural character, with farming, small shops, a temple, an old well, and a government primary school. Many young people commute to the city for work, while others earn through transport services.

The project has also sparked interest in local real estate, with visitors from Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam reportedly enquiring about land prices and business opportunities.

“It is a proud moment that Google is coming here. We hope local youth will benefit from jobs and that the village will see development,” said another resident, Rama Rao.

Some villagers have voiced concerns over future water shortages, rising temperatures, and pending land compensation. Public representatives, however, said the issues would be resolved.

From a modest rural settlement to a future technology hub, Tarluvada is stepping onto the global map.
