Singapore governance model under lens as AP Ministers deepen study tour

A six-member Andhra Pradesh ministerial delegation continued its official training programme in Singapore on Friday, with discussions on governance, industrial growth, and sustainable development taking centre stage on the fourth day of their visit.

Led by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana, the delegation includes Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad, and Roads and Buildings Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy. The tour, scheduled from April 20 to 27, is part of the State government’s Swarna Andhra Vision 2047 initiative.

The programme, hosted by the Singapore government, aims to familiarise the Ministers with modern policy frameworks in a developed democratic setup, with a focus on economic planning, technology integration, and sustainable governance practices.

Former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office of Singapore Lim Swee Say led a session outlining the city-state’s governance evolution, highlighting its transition from a “nation-first” approach to a more inclusive “we-first” model centred on collective progress and social cohesion, officials said.

Key discussions during the day included coordination between the government and private sector, building public trust through transparency and integrity, and long-term development planning. The delegation was also briefed on constituency-level grievance redressal systems and mechanisms for the early identification and resolution of civic issues.

Officials said the Ministers are evaluating how these governance practices can be adapted to Andhra Pradesh’s administrative framework. The programme is being conducted under the Singapore-Andhra Pradesh Joint Institute for World Class Governance (SGJIWC) agreement, with support from the Singapore government and the World Bank.
