Sachin Tendulkar Inspires Students at AU Centenary Celebrations
Former cricketer and Bharat Ratna awardee Sachin Tendulkar on Monday addressed students at the centenary celebrations of Andhra University, calling for discipline, perseverance and value-based education as key drivers of success.
Tendulkar, the chief guest at the event held on the university campus, interacted with students and faculty during the 100-year celebrations of the institution. He stressed the importance of education, family values and sustained effort in shaping one’s future.
Recalling his father’s journey, he said his father rose from a modest background to become a professor and poet through determination and education. Despite limited resources, he said, his father excelled academically and secured gold medals, which remained a lasting inspiration for him.
He said discipline, patience and strong values were instilled in him from an early age, adding that consistent guidance from his family played a crucial role in shaping his personality and keeping him focused throughout his career.
Speaking about life’s challenges, Tendulkar said individuals must learn to manage both internal expectations and external pressures. He told students that clarity of thought and focused effort are essential to achieving meaningful success.
He further noted that success is not instantaneous and requires years of sustained hard work, dedication and resilience. Drawing from his cricketing journey, he said persistence and the ability to learn from failures are vital for long-term achievement.
Urging students to avoid shortcuts, he called on them to pursue their goals with honesty and integrity. He stressed that values should not be compromised for success, and added that young people have a key role in nation-building, where ethical grounding will be crucial for the country’s future progress.
