Collector calls for faster self-enumeration ahead of Census-2027

At a review meeting held at the Collectorate, the Collector said the self-enumeration process, which began on March 16, had achieved 86.49% completion in the district so far. He asked officials to accelerate the process and ensure full coverage at the earliest.

He instructed the Principal Census Officer to monitor progress daily and said the Additional Census Officer should work in close coordination with all concerned departments.

With the main phase of Census-2027 scheduled to commence on May 1, Mr. Kishore said officials at all levels should work in tandem to ensure its successful implementation. He also asked officers to attend review meetings with complete information and refrain from bringing unnecessary staff.

Stressing the need for preparedness, he called for training programmes and the timely appointment of charge officers and special charge officers. He directed that a dedicated group be formed to compile updates and submit daily progress reports.

The Collector asked public representatives, officials, and prominent persons in the district to complete self-enumeration without delay. He further instructed departments to ensure the participation of MGNREGS workers, police personnel, and other government employees in the process.

Detailed reports on progress in urban and rural areas were also sought. Special drives involving self-help groups, workers, and members of the public should be organised to improve participation, he said.

Enumerators and supervisors were asked to familiarise themselves with census kits and the mobile application. Teleconferences should be conducted to ensure the readiness of field staff.
