NDA claiming credit for YSRCP-era projects: KK Raju

YSRCP Visakhapatnam district president KK Raju on Wednesday alleged that the NDA government has delivered little of substance over the past two years, accusing it of pushing the state into debt while taking credit for initiatives launched during the previous YSRCP regime.

Addressing a media conference in the city, Raju said the proposed Google Data Centre project had been conceptualised during the YSRCP government. “Even media outlets supportive of the TDP have acknowledged this. Yet, the TDP continues to claim credit,” he said.

He criticised the State government for failing to clearly spell out the benefits of the project, pointing to the lack of clarity on job creation, economic gains, and overall advantages for Andhra Pradesh. He further alleged that the recent groundbreaking ceremony was turned into a political event, with more focus on self-promotion than on the project itself.

Raju asserted that the groundwork for the data centre — including land allocation, incentives, and a proposed 3,900-km subsea cable to boost international connectivity — had been completed during the YSRCP tenure.

Highlighting other major initiatives, he said projects such as the NTPC Green Hydrogen venture, renewable energy programmes, and the Adani data centre were initiated under the previous government. He added that during the Global Investors Summit held under Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Visakhapatnam attracted investment proposals worth ₹13 lakh crore from leading global firms.

He further claimed that infrastructure projects like the Deck Building at Siripuram and the establishment of Infosys in the city were outcomes of YSRCP’s efforts, while the present government was limited to inaugurations.

Referring to recent remarks by IT Minister Nara Lokesh, Raju said such statements made before global stakeholders could harm the state’s credibility. “Governance should focus on policy and delivery, not propaganda,” he added.
