Collector launches ‘Kishori Vikaasam’ camps across district
District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore on Monday unveiled posters for the ‘Kishori Vikaasam’ summer training and awareness programme, formally launching a series of camps to be conducted across the district till June 11, 2026.
Addressing officials and staff, Mr. Kishore said the initiative is aimed at the empowerment, safety and holistic development of adolescents. He emphasised that the camps will focus on equipping boys and girls with essential life skills, while also creating awareness on education, personal health, nutrition and gender equality. He added that providing a safe and inclusive environment is key to encouraging open discussion and participation among adolescents.
The Collector noted that the programme would be implemented in coordination with various departments to ensure effective outreach at the grassroots level. Special sessions on mental well-being, hygiene practices and protection from abuse are also planned as part of the camp curriculum.
District Women and Child Welfare Officer K.V. Ramalakshmi said arrangements have been made to conduct the camps in multiple locations, ensuring maximum participation from rural and urban areas alike.
District Mission Coordinator Santhoshi Kumari, DCPO Harikrishna and staff of the District Child Protection Unit were present.
