AI-Based Screening Training Held to Detect Early Childhood Delays

A one-day district-level training programme on AI-based screening for the early identification of developmental delays in children aged 0–6 years was held at the office of the District Women and Child Welfare & Empowerment Officer here on Wednesday.

The programme aimed to strengthen early detection systems, ensure timely intervention, and ensure access to appropriate medical and support services for children.

CDPOs from three projects, the RBSK nodal officer, supervisors from 11 mandals, and medical officers participated in the training. Officials were oriented to child developmental milestones, identification of developmental delays, use of an AI-based screening application, report preparation, and referral processes to link children to required services.

Resource persons highlighted that the first 1,000 days of a child’s life are critical for brain development and overall growth. They emphasized that early identification of developmental issues during this period can significantly improve long-term developmental outcomes.

They also briefed participants on the State government’s Navachetana programme, which focuses on holistic child development through targeted interventions.

Officials said the trained personnel would subsequently conduct similar training programmes for anganwadi workers in their respective mandals. The AI-based screening process will be implemented at the village level to enable early identification of children with special needs and ensure timely intervention.

Officials added that the initiative is expected to strengthen early childhood care systems and improve access to essential services across the district.
