Collector Pushes for Faster Completion of TIDCO, PMAY Housing Works

District Collector and GVMC Special Officer M. Abhishekt Kishore has directed officials to expedite TIDCO and PMAY housing projects and complete pending infrastructure works to ensure early handover of houses to beneficiaries.

Reviewing progress along with GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg at the GVMC head office on Wednesday, the Collector expressed concern over delays in PMAY-BLC 1.0, PMAY-Gramin 2.0 and PMAY-Awas Plus schemes, and reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the Housing Corporation. He instructed officials to coordinate closely with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation to speed up execution and complete pending works within stipulated timelines.

Officials informed the meeting that TIDCO housing works are being taken up across 35 layouts, of which 21 have been completed and handed over to beneficiaries. Infrastructure works are pending in six layouts, while construction is yet to be completed in the remaining layouts.

The Collector directed special officers, zonal and mandal-level officers, and engineers to intensify field monitoring and ensure time-bound completion of works. He also asked for Detailed Project Reports on bottlenecks to enable swift approvals and set clear targets for mandal officers ahead of the next review meeting.
