Canva to power digital learning in AP government schools
The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department and Samagra Shiksha have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canva, a global online design platform, to expand digital learning across government schools in the state.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Director of School Education A. Thameem Ansaria and State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha B. Srinivasa Rao.
Under the partnership, Canva for Education will be provided free of charge to students, teachers, and education department officials in government schools across the state. The initiative aims to improve digital literacy and creativity by enabling users to design presentations, projects, and other visual learning materials.
The platform is proposed to be integrated with the state’s LEAP (Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh) app, Google Workspace, and the Chromebook ecosystem, subject to technical feasibility. Teachers will be trained in phases through a Training of Trainers (ToT) model, and the programme will also focus on promoting the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in classrooms.
The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will develop curriculum-aligned template libraries in Telugu and English to support Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) objectives.
Officials said the platform has strong privacy safeguards, including role-based access controls and teacher-managed AI features, to ensure student safety and data protection. The project will be rolled out across the state in four phases.
