DCIL bags ‘Dredging Company of the Year’ award

Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) has bagged the ‘Dredging Company of the Year’ Award 2026 at the Economic Times Global Ports & Shipping Awards 2026, in recognition of its contribution to India’s port and maritime infrastructure.

DCIL managing director and CEO Capt. S. Divakar received the award on the company’s behalf at the ceremony. Calling the recognition a major honour, Capt. Divakar said the award would encourage DCIL to continue its focus on excellence, innovation and nation-building. He dedicated the award to the entire DCIL workforce and its stakeholders.

The award comes as DCIL celebrates its Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of operations in the dredging sector.

Established in 1976 with a fleet of four dredgers, DCIL has grown over the past five decades and now operates more than 10 dredgers. The company has played a key role in supporting the development and maintenance of India’s ports and maritime infrastructure.

Capt. Divakar said DCIL’s growth from four dredgers to a fleet of more than 10 was not merely an expansion of its operations, but also reflected the trust placed in the organisation, its perseverance and its commitment to serving the nation.

The company also expressed its appreciation to its four promoter ports — Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Paradip Port Authority, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and Deendayal Port Authority — for their continued support.

Capt. Divakar also thanked the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for its guidance and encouragement. The recognition comes as DCIL completes five decades of service and enters its next phase of growth in India’s expanding port and maritime sector.
