AC Heatstroke Wards Set Up in Govt Hospitals

In view of the sharp rise in temperatures and prevailing heatwave conditions across the district, health authorities have intensified preparedness measures by setting up special air-conditioned facilities in government hospitals for the treatment of heatstroke cases.

District Coordinator of Hospital Services (DCHS) Dr Narendra Singh said that dedicated air-conditioned wards, emergency medicines, IV fluids, and oxygen support systems have been arranged to provide immediate medical care to patients suffering from heat-related illnesses.

As part of the arrangements, a four-bed air-conditioned ward has been established at Aganampudi Government Hospital, while two-bed AC rooms have been made operational at government hospitals in Gopalapatnam, Bheemili, and Pendurthi. Medical staff have also been instructed to remain alert and ensure a quick response to heatstroke emergencies.

The health department has additionally set up ORS corners and drinking water facilities at hospital premises to help people stay hydrated during the extreme summer conditions. Authorities said special attention is being given to elderly persons, children, outdoor workers, and people with existing health conditions, who are considered more vulnerable during heatwaves.

Dr Narendra Singh advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during peak afternoon hours, consume adequate fluids, and seek immediate medical attention in case of symptoms such as dizziness, dehydration, high body temperature, or fainting.

He also appealed to voluntary organisations and philanthropists to support government hospitals by donating air-conditioners, air coolers, and water dispensers to strengthen summer healthcare services.
