Elaborate arrangements on for AU centenary valedictory fete

District collector M. Abhishikt Kishore on Friday directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for the valedictory function of Andhra University’s centenary celebrations on April 27.

At a review meeting in the AU Senate Hall, attended by vice-chancellor G.P. Rajasekhar, joint collector Gobbilla Vidyadhari, district officials, and university authorities, he said all preparations should be completed in a planned manner.

The vice-chancellor said the programme would be held at the Engineering College grounds from 4 pm and around 25,000 people were expected to attend. He said nodal officers had been appointed for various duties. He added that the Vice-President of India and Sachin Tendulkar would attend as chief guests.

The collector said two committees had been formed for the event, one for advisory support and another for execution in coordination with the district administration and university faculty.

Officials were asked to ensure strict protocol, security, parking, seating, medical services, and public viewing arrangements, including LED screens at key locations.

Students, parents, and the public should be seated by 2 pm. Cultural programmes will be held before the arrival of the dignitaries. He called for close coordination between all departments to ensure the success of the celebrations.
