Electoral Roll Revision Begins June 15; Forms Due by July 14

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will begin on June 15, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) carrying out a month-long door-to-door enumeration exercise to verify voter details and update electoral records, Collector and District Election Officer M. Abhishikth Kishore said on Saturday.

Addressing the media, Mr. Kishore said the exercise, being undertaken as part of the Election Commission’s initiative to maintain an accurate and transparent electoral roll, would continue until July 14.

BLOs will distribute enumeration forms to voters whose names were included in the electoral rolls as of May 25, 2025. They will also guide voters on filling out the forms and collect the completed documents. One copy of the submitted form will be retained by the BLO, while the other will be returned to the voter as an acknowledgement receipt.

If a house is found locked during a visit, the BLO will leave the form at the premises and make up to three follow-up visits to collect the completed document. Voters may also download the form online, fill it out and submit it through the designated digital platform.

The Collector cautioned that voters who fail to submit duly filled and signed enumeration forms by July 14 risk having their names excluded from the draft electoral roll, which is scheduled to be published on July 21.

The forms collected by BLOs will be forwarded to the respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) for the preparation of the draft roll. Rationalisation of polling stations will also be undertaken on July 14 as part of the revision process.

Mr. Kishore said EROs would issue notices to voters whose records contain discrepancies or are not linked to the 2002 electoral roll. Further action will be taken after obtaining the necessary information and supporting documents from the concerned individuals.

The period for filing claims and objections will remain open from July 21 to August 20. Voters who are unable to submit their enumeration forms by July 14 may still apply for enrolment through Form 6 during this period.

According to the schedule, all claims and objections will be scrutinised and disposed of between July 21 and September 18, following which the final electoral roll will be published on September 22.

Mr. Kishore also appealed to Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to extend full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the revision exercise. He said review meetings had already been held with Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and officials had been instructed to ensure the effective implementation of the programme.

Voters seeking assistance may contact the Election Commission’s toll-free helpline, 1950, or visit helpdesks set up at Electoral Registration Offices and the Collectorate.
