J S Bindra assumes charge as VPA Chairperson
Jasmeet Singh Bindra, a 1996 batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), assumed charge as the Chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) on Wednesday.
Prior to this assignment, Bindra served as Principal Chief Operations Manager of the South East Central Railway, Bilaspur. He brings extensive administrative experience across logistics, transportation, and energy infrastructure sectors.
He previously worked as Divisional Railway Manager of the Ranchi Division from 2023 to 2025, and was later appointed Executive Director (Gati Shakti) at the Railway Board in New Delhi.
His career also includes a five-year tenure as Director in the Union Ministry of Coal, during which he served as Government Nominee Director on the boards of major public sector undertakings, including Mahanadi Coalfields Limited and Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
An engineer by qualification, Bindra holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar. He also completed a Master of Business Administration from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and later earned a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California, Berkeley.
