Star Hotels Seek GST Relief on commercial LPG

The Andhra Pradesh Star Hotels Association (ASHA) on Thursday urged the State government to take up with the Union government its demand for reforms to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, including a reduction in GST on commercial LPG cylinders and the restoration of Input Tax Credit (ITC), saying the existing tax structure was increasing costs for the hospitality sector.

A delegation of the association submitted a representation, stating that the current GST on commercial LPG had significantly raised operating expenses for hotels and restaurants, placing an additional financial burden on the industry.

The association also sought the restoration of Input Tax Credit (ITC), arguing that its withdrawal had increased operational and capital investment costs for hotels, affecting the sector’s competitiveness.

It urged the State government to pursue the matter with the Centre and press for the restoration of ITC and other GST reforms to provide relief to the hospitality industry.

Responding to the representation, Minister for Tourism Kandula Durgesh, represented by his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) T. Manohar, assured the delegation that the issues raised would be examined and taken up with the appropriate authorities.

The delegation comprised Vivanta Visakhapatnam General Manager Nageswara Rao, ASHA General Secretary Murthy Chittoory, Joint Secretary M.V. Pavan Kartheek, and GRT Vijayawada Managing Director Sharan.
