65-Ft Trident Unveiled at Kailasagiri to Boost Vizag Tourism

In a major boost to the tourism and spiritual appeal of Visakhapatnam, the iconic hilltop destination of Kailasagiri on Saturday unveiled a towering 65-foot-high Trident (Trishul), adding a striking new landmark to the city’s skyline.

The installation is expected to strengthen Vizag’s position as a global tourism destination while further enhancing Kailasagiri’s identity as a centre for spirituality and scenic tourism.

The Trident was inaugurated by P. Narayana, along with Kondapalli Srinivas and Matukumilli Sribharat, in the presence of public representatives and senior officials.

Constructed at an estimated cost of ₹6 crore, the massive structure, which also features a Damarukam, was completed in nearly eight months. Officials said special engineering measures were adopted considering Kailasagiri’s coastal elevation and exposure to high-velocity winds, enabling the structure to withstand wind speeds of up to 250 kmph.

“Kailasagiri already holds immense spiritual significance because of the iconic Shiva-Parvathi statues. The addition of this Trident further elevates its status as a major spiritual and tourism attraction,” Minister Narayana said.

Visakhapatnam MP Sribharat said the new landmark would add grandeur to the hilltop destination while offering visitors a unique blend of spirituality and panoramic views of the city.

He also revealed that a comprehensive tourism master plan is being prepared to transform Vizag into an internationally recognised tourism hub. The proposed plan aims to integrate Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Kailasagiri, and Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary into a unified tourism circuit.

“Our vision is to develop Visakhapatnam into a destination where tourists can spend four to five days experiencing nature, spirituality, and modern tourism within a single integrated ecosystem,” Sribharat said.

The project also includes dedicated pedestrian pathways, upgraded visitor amenities, and specially developed viewpoints to accommodate the growing influx of domestic and international tourists.

Among those present were MLAs Palla Srinivasa Rao, Vishnu Kumar Raju, Vamsi Krishna Srinivas, Panchakarla Ramesh Babu, and Lokam Naga Madhavi, along with VMRDA Chairman Pranav Gopal and Commissioner Tej Bharat.
