AP Ministers Study Singapore’s Governance, Urban Planning Models
A delegation of Andhra Pradesh Ministers visiting Singapore met Home Minister K. Shanmugam on Wednesday (April 22, 2026) and received a briefing on the country’s legal framework, public safety systems, and citizen-focused policing practices.
The meeting was held over breakfast in Little India, officials said.
Later in the day, the Ministers are scheduled to attend sessions at NUS Cities on integrated planning, urban development, and land governance. The training programme, organised by the Singapore government, focuses on “nation-first governance” and political accountability.
The delegation will also visit the Singapore City Gallery to study Singapore’s urban transformation and long-term planning model.
The team is led by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana. Members include B.C. Janardhan Reddy, Anagani Satya Prasad, Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, Vangalapudi Anitha, and Satya Kumar Yadav.
Earlier, the Ministers held talks with Singapore Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade Gan Siow Huang in the presence of the Indian High Commissioner. Discussions covered cooperation in infrastructure, logistics, renewable energy, fintech, artificial intelligence, smart cities, and waste management.
The delegation also visited Our Tampines Hub, where officials explained Singapore’s “Meet-the-People Sessions”, a public grievance redressal system involving elected representatives.
Officials said the Ministers believe the visit will help Andhra Pradesh strengthen governance reforms and accelerate infrastructure development. The delegation will return to India on April 27.
