Waltair Division Opens Women Staff Restrooms at Five Stations

As part of a major employee welfare initiative, the Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway has introduced dedicated restrooms for women employees at five key railway stations, enhancing workplace facilities and promoting a more inclusive environment.

The first phase of the project has been completed at Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Simhachalam, and Parvatipuram stations. Railway officials said similar facilities will soon be rolled out at more stations across the division in a phased manner.

Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra said the need for exclusive restrooms for women employees was identified during routine inspections. After reviewing staff requirements, the administration moved quickly to create facilities that offer greater comfort, privacy, and convenience during duty hours.

He said the initiative reflects the Division’s focus on employee welfare and women’s empowerment by ensuring a safe, respectful, and dignified workplace for women staff.

Officials said the newly developed restrooms are equipped with seating arrangements, cots, toilets, and washrooms, helping employees rest comfortably during long shifts.

The move has received a positive response from women employees, who appreciated the Railway administration for addressing an important workplace need. Encouraged by the feedback, officials said the Division plans to speed up expansion of the initiative to more stations in the near future.
