Norwegian Team Visits Vizag Port for Green Partnership
A high-level Norwegian delegation led by Ambassador to India Ms. May-Elin visited the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) on Wednesday to discuss cooperation in port modernisation, sustainability, and maritime technology.
The delegation was received by VPA Deputy Chairperson Roshni Aparanji Korati. Officials briefed the team on the strategic importance of Visakhapatnam Port in global trade and its ongoing transformation into a mechanised and environmentally responsible gateway.
VPA highlighted its green initiatives, including large-scale solar power projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions. The delegation also reviewed the port’s Sewage Treatment Plant and water recycling system, where treated water is reused for industrial purposes.
Officials further presented ongoing infrastructure upgrades, such as the expansion of covered storage facilities and the mechanisation of cargo handling systems.
Roshni Aparanji Korati said the visit could pave the way for future collaboration between India and Norway in sustainable shipping and port technology. A
