Pawan Kalyan Slams Detention of ISKCON Monk in Bangladesh, Calls for Global Action
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday strongly criticised the continued detention of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh, alleging denial of justice and intimidation of his legal team.
In a post on X, Pawan Kalyan said the spiritual leader had been in jail for over 500 days and was once again denied bail. He raised concerns over the legal process in Bangladesh, alleging that even the monk’s lawyers were being “intimidated, threatened, and silenced in court corridors.”
“Is advocating for the rights of the minority Hindu community a crime?” he asked, adding that “when a saffron-clad soul is treated like a criminal for raising his voice, the world cannot remain silent.”
Calling for urgent intervention, the Jana Sena Party leader urged the Bangladeshi authorities to provide immediate medical assistance to Chinmoy Krishna Das and ensure fair justice, including granting him bail at the earliest.
He also criticised what he described as the silence of “pseudo-secularists and selective human rights activists” on the issue, remarking that “apparently, your humanity has a filter.”
Tagging international bodies, including the United Nations Human Rights Office, the United Nations Human Rights Council, and the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, Pawan Kalyan called for global attention to the issue and used the hashtag #FreeChinmoyKrishnaDas.
