Fill 350 Tahsildar Posts Immediately: Revenue Association
Andhra Pradesh Revenue Services Association state president Bopparaju Venkateswarlu on Monday urged the state government to immediately fill 350 vacant Tahsildar posts across the state, stating that revenue officials at mandal and village levels are facing severe work pressure due to staff shortages.
Addressing a media conference in Srikakulam, he said revenue officials are handling a wide range of responsibilities, including resurvey works, land acquisition processes, voter registration, census operations, and election duties, apart from their routine administrative functions.
Venkateswarlu said the increasing workload has made it difficult for officials to effectively discharge their regular duties and provide timely services to the public. He urged the government to take immediate steps to reduce the burden on the existing staff by filling all vacant Tahsildar posts without further delay.
He claimed that many revenue officials have been suffering from stress-related and other health issues because of continuous pressure and long working hours.
The association leader further said Tahsildars are being asked to attend frequent review meetings and official programmes at district headquarters, which consume a major portion of their working time. As a result, they are unable to devote adequate time to resolving public grievances and clearing pending applications at the field level.
He appealed to the government to strengthen the revenue department with adequate manpower so that administrative services can be delivered more efficiently and public grievances can be addressed promptly.
