Food Poisoning at Wedding in Konaseema, 44 Hospitalized

At least 44 persons allegedly suffered food poisoning after consuming food served at a wedding ceremony in Vanapalli village of Kothapeta mandal on Thursday.

According to official sources, the victims complained of vomiting and stomach ailments shortly after the meal and were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. While 38 persons were admitted to the Government Hospital in Kothapeta, six others were shifted to a private hospital.

Kothapeta MLA Bandaru Satyananda Rao visited the hospital and enquired about the condition of the patients. Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav reviewed the situation and spoke to doctors attending on the victims.

Doctors informed the Minister that the condition of all the affected persons was stable. Officials said food samples were being examined to ascertain the cause of the suspected food poisoning incident.
