Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio explores Vizag’s heritage sites
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio went on a private tour of Visakhapatnam on Monday to explore the city’s rich cultural and maritime heritage.
After staying at a wellness resort in the Rushikonda area, Mr Rio began the day with an early morning visit to the ancient Thotlakonda Buddhist Complex. He viewed the historic stupas and was briefed on the archaeological importance of the 2nd-century BCE site.
Later, the delegation visited Bheemunipatnam beach, known for its coastal heritage and status as one of India’s oldest municipalities. The group then travelled through the scenic Kailasagiri hilltop and key city areas, including MVP Colony, Maddilapalem, and RTC Complex. Mr Rio also enjoyed panoramic views from the iconic glass bridge at Kailasagiri.
In the afternoon, the Chief Minister visited the Fishing Harbour and the historic St Mary’s Church in the Old Post Office area.
Before concluding the tour, he visited the Yarada Beach area. Mr Rio and his team are scheduled to leave the city by Monday evening, according to an official release issued by the Andhra Pradesh government.
