Public role vital in Swachh Andhra, says Minister Anita
Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anita on Saturday urged people to take an active part in the Swarna Andhra – Swachh Andhra programme. She said keeping surroundings clean is everyone’s responsibility.
She attended the programme at Tegada Model School in Kasimkota mandal along with District Collector Vijaya Krishnan. Sanitation workers were honoured, and saplings were planted on the school campus.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Anita said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is giving priority to the Statewide cleanliness drive. He is taking part in such programmes every month in different constituencies, with Ministers and MLAs also involved. The government is encouraging toilet usage, building toilets where needed, and improving drainage systems. She said village development starts at home and students are being taught the importance of hygiene and environmental cleanliness.
On the occasion of National Girl Child Day, the Minister greeted girl students and cut a cake with them. She interacted with the students and said the government has special systems to ensure women’s safety. She advised girls to be confident, focus on their studies, avoid excessive use of social media, and understand legal protections.
Ms. Anita also said Education Minister Nara Lokesh has introduced important reforms in the education sector. When students asked for a playground, she assured them that a ground would be arranged soon.
