Tea Board event promotes wellness benefits of tea
The South Zonal Office of the Tea Board of India launched a weekend promotional event at Inorbit Mall in Visakhapatnam to raise awareness of tea’s wellness benefits and encourage consumption.
The event, which began on Saturday, was organised under the guidance of Tea Board Executive Director M. Bharani Kumaar and inaugurated by Vimala, a small tea grower from Ooty.
Tea Board Development Officer R. Uma Maheswari honoured progressive small tea growers P.K. Kumaran and Arun with shawls. Ramanand of Tirumala Tirupati Tea Nook helped coordinate the event.
The exhibition showcases organic and handmade teas from small growers across South India. Visitors can also explore a range of specialty teas at the Tea Board stall, including orthodox black, green, white and oolong teas, as well as masala, bamboo and other flavoured varieties. Among the infusions on display are blue tea, chamomile, rose and hibiscus, giving consumers a chance to sample a variety of regional and specialty flavours.
The Tea Board is also offering free samples of brewed tea to visitors as part of the promotion.
The event aims to connect consumers with small-scale growers and allow them to experience the wider range of teas produced in South India.
