Vizag school joins PM’s nationwide anti-drug campaign

Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar in MVP Colony emerged as the lone school from Andhra Pradesh to participate in the virtual launch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign on Sunday, joining 10 other Sri Sathya Sai institutions from across the country.

Launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the MY Bharat initiative, the campaign seeks to transform the fight against substance abuse into a nationwide people’s movement. The programme was held simultaneously at more than 10,000 locations, with the Prime Minister urging young people to reject drugs and lead the country’s march towards a developed India.

Students of the Visakhapatnam school took the anti-drug pledge after participating in a series of awareness programmes, including a Viksit Bharat choir, a Nukkad Natak (street play), yoga and meditation sessions, and cultural performances promoting a drug-free society.

Former principal Ayyagari Kaushalya called upon students to uphold human values, discipline and social responsibility. School governing body members B. Sreedevi, P.R.S.N. Naidu, V.R. Nageswara Rao, and principal Chekuri Varalakshmi participated in the programme.
