YSRCP Holds Protest Over “Two Years of Betrayal” Alleging Unfulfilled NDA Promises

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Thursday launched a strong political offensive against the NDA coalition government, staging a massive protest in the city under its statewide programme ‘Vennupotuki Rendellu’ (Two Years of Betrayal), accusing the ruling alliance of systematically failing to implement its election promises even after completing two years in office.

Led by YSRCP Visakhapatnam district president K. K. Raju, the protest saw a large mobilisation of senior leaders, cadres and supporters. The rally began at Dali Raju Super Market and moved through key stretches of the city before culminating at Akkayyapalem Highway, turning the area into a focal point of political activity. Party leaders and activists also burnt copies of the NDA government’s election manifesto, terming it a document of “unfulfilled assurances and public deception.”

Addressing the gathering, Rajya Sabha member Golla Babu Rao said the growing public anger reflected the government’s “failed governance and broken commitments.” He alleged that despite two years in power, the coalition had not delivered on key promises made to women, youth, farmers, labourers and other vulnerable sections of society.

Former MP Botcha Jhansi intensified the attack, alleging that high-profile poll promises such as ‘Aadabidda Nidhi’ and unemployment allowance had remained confined to campaign rhetoric. She also accused the government of pushing ordinary citizens into financial distress due to rising prices of essential commodities.

YSRCP leaders asserted that the protest marked the beginning of a sustained political movement against what they described as the NDA government’s “betrayal of public trust,” warning that the agitation would be intensified across the state in the coming days.
