INS Sahyadri at Guam for Multilateral Exercise Malabar-2025
Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sahyadri has arrived at Guam in the Northern Pacific to participate in the multilateral Exercise Malabar-2025, aimed at strengthening regional maritime cooperation.
A Navy spokesperson said the deployment “reaffirms India’s enduring partnerships and its commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.” The officer added that the exercise “highlights the Indian Navy’s growing capabilities and its focus on interoperability with friendly maritime forces.”
INS Sahyadri, an indigenously designed and built Guided Missile Stealth Frigate, stands as a symbol of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. An Eastern Naval Command official said the ship “has consistently demonstrated India’s design and operational expertise through several international deployments.”
The Harbour Phase of the exercise will include operational planning sessions, communication alignment, familiarisation visits, and sporting events. It will be followed by the Sea Phase, where ships and aircraft will conduct advanced drills such as joint fleet operations, anti-submarine warfare, gunnery exercises and flying missions.
“Exercises like Malabar enhance mutual trust and coordination among navies,” the spokesperson said. “They are vital for maintaining peace and stability in the maritime domain.”
