New LPG Connections Affected by Supply Disruptions

The issuance of new LPG connections by HPCL, IOC, and BPCL has reportedly come to a halt over the past few weeks, leaving many consumers waiting indefinitely for domestic gas connections.

Residents approaching local gas agencies say they are being informed that new connections are currently unavailable due to supply-related constraints. Agency representatives have also reportedly said they are unable to indicate when the situation is likely to return to normal.

“Earlier, the process would be completed within a day or two after submitting the required documents. Now, we are simply being asked to wait,” said a resident who recently applied for a new LPG connection.

Another applicant said the uncertainty was causing inconvenience to families moving into new homes. “We planned our household setup assuming the connection would be issued quickly, but there is no clarity now,” he said.

According to agency sources, disruptions in LPG supply have forced oil marketing companies to temporarily slow down or suspend the release of new domestic connections. Existing customers, however, continue to receive cylinder refills without interruption.

Consumers have urged the companies to provide clarity on the duration of the restrictions and to make alternative arrangements to meet the growing demand for new LPG connections.
