CREDAI shifts NATCON 2026 venue from Amsterdam to India

The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) has decided to shift the venue of its 24th NATCON convention from Amsterdam to India, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal to prioritise national interest amid the evolving geopolitical situation in West Asia.

In a statement, CREDAI said the decision was taken in line with the Prime Minister’s call to reduce non-essential foreign travel, conserve fuel and foreign exchange, and encourage domestic spending.

The organisation stated that the revised Indian venue for NATCON 2026, along with the updated programme details, would be announced shortly.

NATCON is CREDAI’s flagship annual convention and attracts participation from more than 1,000 developers, investors, policymakers, architects, consultants, and industry stakeholders from across the country. Traditionally hosted at international destinations, the event serves as a platform for discussions on real estate, urban infrastructure, sustainable development, smart cities, and construction technologies.

CREDAI said hosting the convention in India would ensure that the economic benefits associated with an event of this scale directly support the domestic economy, tourism, hospitality, and allied sectors.

Commenting on the decision, Shekhar Patel said the real estate sector, being one of the country’s largest employment generators, should align with the Prime Minister’s vision and demonstrate collective responsibility during a period of global uncertainty.

He said preparations for the Amsterdam event had been underway for more than six months, but the organisation decided to reconsider the venue in view of the Prime Minister’s appeal and the prevailing national sentiment.

Mr. Patel also highlighted the challenges currently facing the real estate sector, including rising construction costs due to escalating prices of cement, steel, and other raw materials, as well as labour shortages affecting project execution across several markets.

CREDAI added that the move would also help promote domestic tourism, create opportunities for India’s hospitality and event management sectors, and showcase the country’s rapidly evolving infrastructure and urban development capabilities.
