Collector sets 15-day deadline for anti-larval drive

District Collector Dr. N. Prabhakar Reddy on Thursday directed officials to intensify anti-larval operations across the district and ensure effective mosquito control within 15 days.

Reviewing anti-larval measures and the implementation of Mana Mitra and Farmers App services through a video conference, the Collector said fogging alone would not effectively curb mosquito breeding and stressed the need to eliminate stagnant water sources at their origin.

Officials were instructed to conduct door-to-door inspections in villages and urban wards to identify stagnant water in tanks, containers, rooftops, discarded tyres, and coconut shells. The Collector said anti-larval activities should cover all potential mosquito breeding points, including paddy fields, and directed Agriculture Department officials to create awareness among farmers on malaria prevention.

Dr. Prabhakar Reddy warned that the continued presence of mosquitoes after the deadline would be viewed seriously and directed Sub-Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, and Panchayat officials to personally monitor the drive.

He also instructed the district’s 861 RSK in-charges to facilitate at least 35 Farmers App downloads daily and directed Secretariat staff to mark attendance before proceeding for field surveys, warning of action against those failing to comply.

Joint Collector C. Yashwanth Kumar Reddy, Sub-Collectors R. Vaishali and Pawar Swapnil Jagannath, DWAMA PD K. Ramachandra Rao, and other officials participated in the meeting.
