Delay in Andhra University vigilance probe draws criticism from employees

The vigilance inquiry ordered by the Andhra Pradesh government into alleged irregularities at Andhra University during the tenure of the previous YSRCP government has been under way for nearly seven months. The prolonged pace of the investigation has drawn criticism from some of the university’s employees.

Vigilance officials continue to examine records and question personnel from various departments as part of the inquiry. Employees have expressed concern over its extended duration, stating that the process has created uncertainty and inconvenience. They have questioned when the inquiry would be concluded and whether action, if warranted, would follow.

Some employees who experienced administrative difficulties under the previous regime have urged the government to closely monitor the progress of the investigation and ensure its timely completion.

Concerns have also been raised over the manner in which the inquiry is being conducted. According to employees, vigilance teams have made repeated visits to the same departments and sought information from the same officials on multiple occasions, rather than completing the process in a single round. They contend that this has disrupted routine administrative work.

Some employees have alleged that the inquiry has so far focused largely on lower-level staff, while former senior officials associated with key administrative decisions during the previous government’s tenure have not been questioned. They have argued that examining those officials could help clarify the circumstances behind the decisions under scrutiny.

Employees have called on the vigilance department to expedite the inquiry without further delay so that responsibility, if any, can be determined and appropriate action taken.
