MQCI marks first Foundation Day at AMTZ
The MedTech Quality and Communications Institute (MQCI), established under the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), celebrated its first Foundation Day on Thursday, marking a year of initiatives aimed at strengthening quality standards, certification, and professional skills in India’s medical technology sector.
Addressing the gathering, AMTZ Managing Director and Founder CEO Jitendra Sharma said quality and effective communication were essential to building trust as medical technology assumes an increasingly important role in healthcare. He said MQCI had been established as a common platform for quality assurance, training, certification, and professional development.
According to AMTZ, the institute conducted specialised training programmes, provided consultancy on ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, completed the first Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Certification Scheme (BEMCS) assessment at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, and undertook initiatives to strengthen quality practices in healthcare technology during its first year.
MQCI Chairman Bejon Kumar Misra said quality in healthcare was closely linked to patient safety, reliability, and public trust, and stressed the need to keep quality at the centre of the development and adoption of medical technologies.
Deputy Director General of the Association of Healthcare Providers (India) (AHPI) Sunil Kumar Khetarpal said robust quality systems, trained professionals, and adherence to standards were essential for healthcare institutions to use medical technologies effectively.
The programme featured a panel discussion on “Healthcare Textiles Processing Facility: Requirements, Benefits and Best Practices”, with experts from the healthcare, medical technology, and academic sectors participating.
The event also marked the inauguration of MQCI’s expanded headquarters at the World Trade Centre Tower on the AMTZ campus, which is expected to support the institute’s growing training and certification activities.
